1. DIAGNOSTIC PARTNERING OPPORTUNITIES

Axela's dot™ technology offers a proprietary, robust alternative to existing platforms for immunoassay.

THE OPPORTUNITY

• Current diagnostic technologies do not translate effectively from Central laboratory to the Near-patient/Point-of-Care (POC) setting
  
• The most prevalent POC technology does not offer equivalent performance to Central laboratory instrumentation
  
• The most prevalent POC technology continues to be troubled by ongoing legal or Intellectual Property battles
  

PROVEN TECHNOLOGY

Axela has demonstrated the utility of this technology in measuring a high value cardiac marker in complex media in a clinically relevant range. Our ability to independently measure individual immunoassays without the need for a common reporter such as  a fluorescent or chemiluminescent label allows us to detect analytes over a very wide dynamic range, up to 9 logs, in a single sample. We have demonstrated simultaneous measurement of proteins in serum from high micromolar through single picomolar levels in a single sample.

We have also demonstrated the ability to detect 1) DNA hybridization 2) microorganisms such as virions and 3) protease activity. Thus by simply modifying capture reagents one can extend the range of quantifiable analytes on this platform.

Finally, the simple robust optics technology at the core of the current compact bench-top platform can be readily deployed, as in the current stand-alone system, or incorporated into various other platforms in the central laboratory and near-patient testing.

• Looking for an alternative to lateral flow technology
• Looking for a novel technology as an entry point into the POC and/or the Central laboratory markets
• To out-license proprietary content for the Axela branded platform for clinical diagnostics.

Axela's dot™ technology is a novel, cost effective approach to immunoassay and the study of biomolecular interactions.  Axela is expanding its library of proprietary biomarker content for multiplexed research or diagnostic assays.  Of particular interest are proteins that would find the greatest long term utility in a point of use setting.
